I was looking forward to these but they are awful the taste is off and they contain sugar alcohol. Maybe I should have read the ingredients better but they don’t use sugar alcohol in their protein powders. I love their protein powders and will continue to buy them. Will try and formulate a donut recipe if my own with some of their cake batter protein powder but will not buy these donuts again.
Have only had the chance so far to try the lemon poppy seed flavor. Everything baked up fine. I did not like the flavor of the topping or the muffin itself. There was some flavor in there that made it very off-putting to me.
Store owner replied:
Gregg,
If you cook them as muffins instead of donuts, you're going to need to leave them in an extra 3 minutes or so to get cooked all the way. With donuts being thinner & having a hole in the middle, they take less time to bake. With the next one, try letting them go a little bit longer. You can check them with a toothpick, if you stick it in the muffins & it comes out completely dry without any batter on the toothpick, you should be good to go! Our actual muffin mixes are baked at a slightly higher temperature, so just letting these go 2-3 minutes longer at 325º should make up for the slight difference in baking temperatures. Hope the helps, let us know if they taste better when you do that!
Didnt taste good, the aftertaste was even worse. 4 in my family tried it, all of us thought the donuts were unedible.
Store owner replied:
That's why we make sure to call it a donut mix. If they were pre-made, they would require a lot of artificial preservatives, & we avoid any artificial ingredients in our products. It only takes about 3-5 min prep time, then 10-12 min to bake, & you have 6 delicious protein donuts!
Store owner replied:
Hi Emily! The reason we sell them as mixes, is because if they were pre-made, we would have to use artificial preservatives, & we don't use anything artificial in our products. It's a common mistake, which is why me made sure to include the word mix in all of our donut options.
Used applesauce instead of pumpkin. Very airy but not a lot of flavor.
Store owner replied:
You can use mashed banana instead of applesauce, we get great feedback when they're made with banana!
Got email notice my very first order was lost. After about 3-4 days of me reaching out, finally got an answer. They sent me a replacement order and took off shipping. The product itself is very good. I wish the customer service had been a bit more responsive, but I was ultimately happy with their resolution. In the meantime, the original order showed up out of nowhere.
The texture was good, but the cake lacked flavor. Adding some lemon zest to the batter and more lemon juice to the baked doughnut may help. Without the glaze it's not great. I feel like the glaze is overly sweet, like it's making up for the doughnut cake. Some of the sweetner needs to be shifted to the cake mix and removed from the glaze for a more balanced flavor.
I first tried the cinnamon one. It tasted a little dry to me. I was under the assumption that they came already baked so I was disappointed when I realized I had to bake them myself!
Store owner replied:
You may have just mixed it for a bit too long, it can get a little runny if that happens. Next time, try to fold it before a short mix. Also, make sure to whip the egg whites before adding the rest of the ingredients, it will make the batter thicker & far more fluffy. Hope that helps!
I’ll be honest…I didn’t WANT to like them, but I did. These were phenomenal! My only problem is restraining myself from eating them all in one sitting. One suggestion: can you please double the package size so a full dozen could be made at once?
They taste alright. About what you would expect from protein donuts. Not a big fan of the lack of nutritional information on the glaze/icing mixes. Omitting this seems misleading when you market these as "clean eating."
Took one bite and threw them all away. Overly sweet topping and nasty flavor and texture of the donut. I have 2 other flavors I’m reluctant to spend the time on. Pretty time consuming and several ingredients needed to make these. Disappointed. I do like to “cook” with the flavored whey. They are sweet too but when clmbined with yogurt and oats in over night oats they are great
Posted in my Facebook group T1D Tasty Testimonies Here is the long awaited review
The success of these donuts almost made me cry
EVERYONE in my family T1D, Non T1D, and T2D ALL love these donuts
We tried the Prodough Double Chocolate Donuts
My 14 year old son sent me the picture below
He said, and I quote, "THESE ARE GOATED MOM!"
THAT, my friends, is an absolute win!
He LICKED the plate 😂
He hasn't had a donut in a year aside from a Keto donut that was subpar with some ingredients I didn't care for
These ingredients blow my mind
Whey Protein Isolate, Organic High Fiber Coconut Flour, Organic Oat Flour, Rice flour, Potato Flour, Organic Brown Rice flour, Sorghum Flour, Cinnamon, Aluminum Free baking powder, Xantham gum, Raw Monk Fruit, Erythritol Himalayan Pink Sea Salt, and Spices
(The Erythritol is low enough on the list I will let it slide)
Contains NO Added Sugars, Colors, Preservatives, Artificial flavors, or GMOs
They were also really easy to throw together. Somehow my hand mixer was missing so I whipped the egg whites with a whisk. The frosting was undeniably the best frosting I have ever eaten, hands down.
The price is $14.99 and it makes 6 good size donuts. That is about the same price as a dozen garbage donuts, 6 gourmet donuts, or a box of a competitors donuts that don't hold a candle to ingredients or taste.
Between his 9am and noon bolus his numbers stayed fairly even
ZERO spikes.... exactly what we want.
CONTAINS COCONUT
The donuts are actually pretty tasty. However, as someone who is really watching what I put into my body, since you can't see the ingredients online for the flavor I chose, I'm not pleased that there is Soy Lechithin and the use of Erythritol as a sweetener. Very disappointing.
Store owner replied:
Susan,
Thank you for your honest review, it's actually very helpful! Just so you know, we did recently switch to sunflower lecithin, so no trace of soy anymore. If you go to the image carousel at the top of the Donut Mixes page, there will be a nutrition card for each flavor with the ingredient list & nutritional information. We do this for all of our products, so if you're interested in any of the other mixes or protein powders, that's where you can find all of the nutritional information!
The flavor wasn’t as good as the other ones I’ve tried. They were just meh.
